The Sea of Japan, 25 September 2000 — Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handler) Airman Steve Reyes and Aviation Boatswain's Mate (Handler) 3rd Class Cristopher Rogotero signal a helo to land on the flight deck of USS Essex (LHD-2) while underway with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit in the Sea of Japan. The ship is conducting training exercises.
