Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command
Laos, 09 February 2007 —
Members of the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command arrive by helicopter near their worksite on a mountain in the Xekong province of Laos. Three 10-member JPAC teams from Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii, including anthropologists, medics and explosive ordnance disposal technicians, are deployed to Laos for 30 days attempting to recover pilots that crashed in the area during the Vietnam war. The mission of JPAC is to achieve the fullest possible accounting of all Americans missing as a result of the nation’s past conflicts.
