U.S.M.C. AH-1W Sea Cobra

Gulf of Thailand, 01 September 1989 — An AH-1W Sea Cobra helicopter armed with two AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles, foreground, and several CH-46E Sea Knight helicopters sit on the flight deck of the amphibious assault ship USS Tarawa (LHA 1) during the combined Thai/U.S. joint exercise Thalay Thai ‘89. The helicopters are assigned to Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron 163 (HMM-163), the reinforced aviation combat element of the 11th Marine Expeditionary Unit (11th MEU).
