The exhaust diffuser section is attached to the combustion section by a grooved clamp. It consists of an inner and outer housing separated by four hollow struts. The inner housing supports the n2 power turbines through the #3 and #4 main bearings. The outer housing provides an attaching point for the start and main fuel manifolds, ignition harness, thermocouples system, oil lines, fire shield, and tailpipe. The four struts are hollow to allow ambient outside air to be directed through the struts and around the #3 and #4 main bearing package for cooling. The heat of the exhaust gases causes the thermocouples to generate electricity to power the exhaust gas temperature indicator in the cockpit.
